Precepts
The 9th International Symposium on the Sociology of Music Education (ISSME) will be at Loyola University New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, on June 14-17, 2015.
The 2015 conference organizers invite the submission of proposals for papers on aspects of theory, philosophy, research and practice in the sociology of music education. The symposium welcomes research and scholarly investigations into a wide range of contexts, such as schools, universities, festivals, communities, the media, homes and the Internet. ‘Music education’ is understood to include all forms of teaching and learning music – formal, informal and non-formal.
Submissions are encouraged from researchers at all stages of their careers, and research from qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method or philosophical approaches are welcome. Scholars focusing on music and musical practices outside of Euro-American traditions are especially encouraged. Conference presentations will be 30 minutes in length.
Please send any questions you may have to Edward McClellan at [email protected].
